The Roof

This project doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon. Last week when we had a lot of rain we noticed a what we thought was a little leak. Before Blaine came to bed he and his dad poked a hole in the spot where the water had built up. Funny thing about this entire situation is we got a new roof on during the summer so you wouldn't think this would happen. The next morning the rain had stop and the dripping also had stopped. Through out the day I noticed the ceiling drooping more and all the dry wall was pretty wet to the touch. I kept thinking to myself that thing is going to fall I just really hope my kids aren't under it when it does. Sure enough that night I think this was on Tuesday night Linda was helping me in the kitchen with Baby Graice's cradle bedding and I was sitting at the table. Cameron was in the family room eating Cheetos and thank goodness Ryan was in bed but all of a sudden you hear this woosh sound. Drywall or in our case wet wall came crashing down along with a bunch of insulation. All I could think and say where is Cameron where is Cameron as I got out of the chair and ran into the family room. Cameron was sitting about a foot away from where the main very heavy wet piece of drywall came down. He was really scared and he had every right to be. The room was full of dust and insulation particles. Gary had gone out to do some Christmas shopping so I yelled at Danny to come upstairs and call his dad to get home.
This isn't a great picture but this is what it looked like when it first fell.

This is what the hole looked like that night. You can't tell but the drywall close to the door opening is just kind of hanging. Thank goodness my brother in law had a super nice shop vac and some plastic and came over to rescue us. I wish I got a picture of it but they concocted a way to hold the rest of the ceiling up using a box and a long piece of wood to brace it up. The good news was dinner was at Ellen's this week so we didn't have a ton of kids running around this board in the middle of the room.
this brings us to today's pictures we are now at two weeks almost and still no good news. The guy has come twice to fix what they thought the problem is even getting a piece made to go around the ac unit where the leak they say is coming from. He had another guy com out and help him do a super crazy water test and it is still leaking. The new plan is to replace the "jack stand" (the thing that the a/c unit sits on cuz that is where he thinks the leak is coming from.
He did open up the roof in the house since he thought he was going to be fixing it today and when that happened more drywall and insulation fell making the hole bigger. We new that was going to have to get bigger to fix anyway.

The good news is that since he took down more of the drywall we don't need the stick to hold up the roof anymore. With the house going to be full of people this weekend that will be nice. I doubt that we will have drywall fixed before Christmas like they where hoping but at least the stick is gone. There is new plastic and we will start over once they get the new piece built.
